An extremely long list!

1. I just commented on the bitchy two-year-old post about NaNoWriMo at Wet Asphalt. And after reading around their extremely pretentious literary blog, I really fail to see how someone who seems to love books merely for the purpose of comparing them to Moby Dick and, perhaps, crushing the hopes and dreams of young artists, thinks they have any position to comment on someone else's endeavours. NaNoWriMo makes messy, lovely, often horrible prose, but it makes prose. Someone call me when Eric Rosenfield publishes anything worth reading.

cut for many things that even I don't really care about, and a bit about how Noah Wyle is the geek of my dreams )
Evidently, I am too lazy to flock my entries. Which really says something.

Hello, from the University of Tennessee library!

The teacher is out of the room, and I'm tired of looking up articles about gender identity in Barn Burning. Even though that's going to be a hardcore essay to write.

WIN!
Thanks to some serious shame, the doubt of my brother, and some (LITERALLY) glittering words of encouragment that I recieved sometime around 42,000 words this afternoon. NaNoWriMo is once again at a close. I wrote 23,000 words in the last two days. And I've broken out the sparkling apple cider that I got my mother to buy this morning and am drinking it out of a wine glass.

Thank God It's Over.

In American History, we're reading Storming Heaven, a novel by Denise Giardina about the efforts of coal miners trying to get unions into the mountains of West Virginia. It's beautiful and heartbreaking and fantastic.

So, I slashed it.

All of the Obama joy from last night was broken up a bit by hearing about Prop 8, but I'm feeling better. Because people are getting angry, and they're fighting it. And I really believe that it could be enough, that passion. Of course, the Obama joy is rushing back, so who knows. Historic events and watching about 9 hours of MSNBC messes with your system.

On a slightly relevent but not really note, Bones was incredibly cute tonight.  If you watched, you might get the slight relevance. Otherwise, I still love Zack with all of my heart, but I find Sweets to slowly be replacing him in my affections.

I’ve been making a bad Ella Fitzgerald documentary for English III ever since I got home from the taking the PSAT (which I suspect I fucked up royally, but c’est la vie, it doesn’t affect the foundations of my future education like the ACT could. Which I’m incidentally taking again next weekend, ohgod), so while I was waiting for a proper DVD burner to load, I rewrote this:

I thought I would make an introduction post to link to from my profile, since I never did that with my last journal. And I have ambitions to have this crazy organized tag system and actually keep memories and all kinds of things. We'll see how long it takes for me to tumble back into chaos.

But this consists of a few scattered things about myself, and then the most random Myspace survey (I'm nostalgic about writing Myspace bulletins, since I deleted my account) I could find. A few things you might have wanted to know about me, and several more that you didn't.

I don't even know your name, but I've got you on my brain )

Feel free to ask me anything else :D
