ohmygod bird metaphors are beautiful. I can't even describe how much I love the phrase "bird-boned arms". (Kel is the daughter of Alanna, right? I only read the Song of the Lioness but now I am going to need mooooore.) Even with an unknown basis, this all feels familiar and comfortable and so hot with so few allusions.
